In 2018, the family’s year old, bright orange electric fiat, Zucca, was totaled while parked in the street in front of our house. While we thought we were doing the right thing by going gas free, the loss of Zucca led us to reevaluate the full impact of our choices and the very meaning of sustainability. Since that day, we’ve been completely car free and significantly happier and better off because of it. Though we never would have intentionally given up the car, being forced into a new experience led us to realize the limits our our ability to think outside of our existing reality. This very occasional blog will explore the human side of sustainable design, how our decisions shape our environment and how our environment shapes our decisions.
